Jun. 18th, 2011 12:37 pmApologies for never showing up to IRC chat last night-- I was feeling rather like crap and probably would have been terrible company, so I decided to sit that one out. I might be there tonight if we're still doing it.
Also, sorry for that god-awful self-pitying post from yesterday. Dear lord, I should NOT post when sleep-deprived and mopey.
I was accepted to the market research company. It's definitely not a Job job, but it's a way to get out and about, doing something fun and getting reimbursed for it. Most of the assignments also pay a small fee; nothing to shout home about, but hey, going shopping with reimbursement AND being paid? Pretty good deal. And I also get the employee-rate discount on Dell products. Also, it looks like the natural science museum is hiring. Will be sending a resume later today. Yeah, it's retail, but it's something at least, and I think I'd have fun learning about the various exhibits. So, keeping fingers crossed. I really need employment, and I'd prefer employment that has certain benefits, like fascinating learning experiences. Yes, I am a geek. I think anyone who thought otherwise hasn't been paying attention... LOL
In other news, my hair is down to my waist. I'm trying to decide whether or not to cut it-- I've always got it twisted up in a clip because it's so hot these days. I love the idea of it being that long, but it's a pain to keep up with. I'm considering a shorter, tousled look, shoulder length or shorter. And a touchup of color-- the red's starting to fade. Though I'd probably do that part myself.
All right, I'm about to run some errands and do lunch with family for Father's Day. Ta!

Date: 2011-06-18 06:33 pm (UTC)As for yesterday's post, I went to post a comment about how your journal is a very appropriate place for that sort of thing and you should never feel guilty for getting your feelings out, but I was at work and got sidetracked. Sorry about that. I mean it, though. If it's on your mind and you need to get it out, post away.
Great news about the shopping job! Hopefully you'll get the museum job as well. It's my dream to work in a museum. It's one of the reasons I work so hard at my degree. I want to stand out from the other History majors. :)

Date: 2011-06-19 12:23 am (UTC)lol I don't know that I'd call it a job so much as a hobby that... well... might pay for the gas to get to the shops. But it should be fun nonetheless. I hope I get the museum job too! Though it's just a gift shop position. Unfortunately, my qualifications are nil. But it should be fun anyway. Wishing you best of luck on your History degree and future position in a museum!

Date: 2011-06-18 10:27 pm (UTC)I think you should cut your hair. You can do just as much with shoulder length as you can with hair as long as yours is. It will also be cooler and more modern looking. I've GOT to get my color touched up soon as well.

Date: 2011-06-19 12:26 am (UTC)Yeah, I haven't had short hair in AGES-- since I was... what, twenty-one, twenty-two. I had a moment of impulse and got a chin-length bob... lol... I didn't really like it all that much, but if I can find a nice 'do that frames my face well, I think I'm ready to lose the length for a change.

Date: 2011-06-19 05:19 am (UTC)And I agree with Annissa: this is your journal and you vent in it as much as you want. The people who care enough about you will comment and those who don't either don't want to or have other reasons (but they are no less your friend in other areas). Gods know that I figured this out a while ago. I post what I post, you know that, and sometiems they make sense and others...well...yeah. :)
And posting when sleepy and/or sleep-deprived is never a good idea. It brings out the worst emotions.
Your hair is down to your waist?! How the hell do you keep it like that?! Mine is now exceptionally short and I'm happy about it. I say go for shoulder length. Nice hair style choices, not too butch (well, if it's a concern for you because it isn't for me), and it's really easy to maintain. But...wow. That's long!

Date: 2011-06-20 05:09 pm (UTC)Yep, it's been that way for... well, quite some time. I trim it up every now and again to get rid of split ends, but mostly I keep it at about that length. It grows incredibly fast. I'm just ready for a change, I think. I'll have to wait awhile though-- either until some money from commissions comes in (I do have a significant amount of money owed to me, if I can get the person to finally pay me. I was rather foolish because he was a friend, and didn't ask for half up front. Bah. Won't make that mistake again), or whenever I can get some money coming in from regular employment. But I'll be sure to post a pic when I get it done!
