So, it's been a whirlwind week.  Again.  Yesterday especially.  I was asked to caretake for my grandmother all day while the parental units went to Austin for a conference.  After getting about four hours of sleep, I started the day, helping her get dressed, getting her breakfast and coffee, and attempting to wake myself up in the process.

Then, Grandmom started puking, which continued on and off for the rest of the day.

The parents got back in the evening, and I retired to my room, ready for a little relaxation.  Unfortunately, the neighbors had other ideas, and blared their music as loud as possible until very late.  Now, they've done this before.  Numerous times.  I've gone over there before and asked them to turn it down.  I was in a crappy mood and quite tired of having to deal with them every weekend, and so called the police instead.  The music lowered and all was well--except for the fact that I had informed my dad of my intention to call the police.  After I called (and I didn't tell him that I called because he was being ridiculous enough to begin with, and didn't want to start an all-out war with him), he came to me and started lambasting me about wanting to call the cops.  He said that I didn't know the city ordinances but he did, and that we could get in trouble with the police if I called the police for a noise violation, etc-- all pretty much hot air that was made incredibly apparent by the fact that I had already called the cops, requested to remain anonymous, had a report filed, and had results within a few minutes.  Dad has been known in the past to just make things up in order to impose his "authority" on the people in his household, and this was obviously one of those incidents.

I was so pissed last night that I was about ready to book my ticket back to California and tell them to handle Grandmom's caretaking on their own, right then and there.  I've cooled off considerably by now, but I still get rather snarly when I think about it.  Underhanded control tactics like that really make my blood boil.

So, today is Grandmom's 88th birthday.  We were going to take her out to dinner but with her issues yesterday we thought it best to let her rest and recover today.  She's doing better, hasn't had any vomiting or nausea that we're aware of.  So we're going to go to the Saltgrass Steakhouse tomorrow after they get home from church.

Artwork is... slow.  Very, very slow.  I've had one day this week to work on things, and I got a lot done on that day, but just haven't had a chance to go back to it yet.  Hoping Monday will be another day in which I can play catchup.

I keep meaning to log into Yahoo to catch up with people but never get around to it.  Just too much going on right now.
